Is Mobile Windshield Repair & Replacement Safe?

Twenty years ago mobile repair was a rarely used service in the auto glass business.  Today it is a very common practice for glass companies to come to your home or office.  The biggest reason for this change has come improvements in the adhesive being used for windshield installations.  This adhesive, most commonly referred to as urethane, used to take hours to dry and was dependant on temperature and humidity to determine safe drive times.  Companies needed physical locations to hold cars and keep them out of the elements to ensure a proper installation.  Today technicians can apply urethanes that will chemically cure and allow customers the ability to drive away in less than 30 minutes.  Of course there are always certain conditions that will alter these dive away times, like freezing temperatures, but unless you live in Alaska this shouldn’t interfere with your decision on how to get your glass repaired.  At Speedy Glass we offer both in-shop and mobile service, and it’s up to the customer which option they would like to choose.
